Vintage mid-century 'Memlite' laboratory desk lamps.

Painted or burnished iron & steel

These Memlite desk models were commonly used in laboratories from the 1940's onwards. We recently acquired a small run of 6 from a university refurbishment. Three, which had been overpainted a number of times have been fully polished, whilst the remainder have been left in their original attractive blue grey paint.(All can be polished on request).

The fully polished lamps have a characterful degree of historic wear to the burnished steel and iron surfaces, whilst the interior of the shades retain their original cream paint. The lamps in the original painted finish have been cleaned, their paintwork simply revived and preserved.

The lamp articulates at the neck, elbow and base. Each joint is held together with the original nuts, bolts & washers, all of which have been carefully cleaned and sealed before re-assembly. The heavy, cast iron base features a fully functional toggle switch. Two square section arm parts of equal length meet at the elbow joint featuring the impressed 'MEMLITE'logo.

These lamps has been rewired with new aged bronze finish lamp holders, and 2 metres of black cloth covered braided cable. They will be supplied fully PAT tested with a vintage style black plug and low energy bulb.
